If I Was or If I Had

If I had the skill to lasso and to ride wild in the hills of Texas,

I would use my special skills along with my cardiac plexus,

Swinging my rope overhead I’d lasso parts of Texas for you,

A beautiful acre of Texas land under skies of heavenly blue,

If I could write a beautiful verse along with melodies in tune,

A song written of you would be enough to make men swoon,

Verses written of heavenly angels would include you for sure,

If a man had difficulty falling in love you’re a carrier of the cure,

If I were a photographer gifted God’s touch of the magic eye,

I would use such gifted talent to show the world of whom I sigh,

Photographs of a beauty like you should be converted into art,

I’d hire a great artist of oil paintings to paint you nude or in part,

If I were a skilled sculptor with gifted hands I would sculpt you,

As I’ve seen you all of my life I’d sculpt an angel for all to view,

With majestic wings opened wide so everyone can see you fly,

Long flowing hair adds to your beauty of the angel in the sky,

But if I was a gentleman yet perhaps I am too of whom I write,

As a gentleman of searching eye I would ask for a date tonight,

For you are truly beautiful more so than this man has ever seen,

When my eyes focused on you I felt as if my love was obscene,

It appears I’m a man of verse attempting a gentlemanly way,

For truth to be known my heart was yours on the very first day,

My heart cried out for you each time you passed from my view,

Hear the truth of my heart’s affections, “I’m in love with you”.
