A Time to Remember

There’s a time for thought and a time to remember,

Since I first met you I’ve given thanks for September,

I doubt you recall upon meeting I asked your birthday,

Within my mind your date of birth had a place to stay,

A dream came to me just after I had turned sixteen,

You will meet a beautiful angel make her your queen,

I carried that dream within my soul until you were there,

Was it a dream or was I seeing the angel with long hair,

Unknown to all but I said a prayer upon leaving you,

I asked for guidance in the future and all I would do,

My life began that day, not any other time did it begin,

I became a better man and left the condition I was in,

The draft took me away to war as I knew it would soon,

I remember kissing goodbye beneath the Texas moon,

I loved you but it wasn’t the right words for me to say,

With the war over there I was afraid I was going to stay,

By the grace of God I came home but unknown to you,

Letters I wrote were hidden away as mother’s might do,

Two long years alone I had a dream with a broken heart,

Somehow you found me to say I don’t want us to part,

I have your day of birth memorized since we first met,

In fifty five years I have not forgotten your birthday yet,

I remember few days of importance but that day I know,

For without your birthday I would have no place to go.

Happy Birthday Angel! I love you!

As Years Fly By – Patti’s Birthday 2020

As years fly by it makes each day seem so small,

When I am with you I am mesmerized by your all,

Each thing you do may be insignificant if viewed,

Yet wrapped in your love it changes when reviewed,

Your manner of doing says I love you without a word,

The tender touch of your hand needs no voice heard,

A kiss placed upon a bruise removes pain from a child,

You lovingly select pet’s gifts even those that run wild,

Many times I have wondered how you take in it all,

You see good in each pet that answers to your call,

Children nearby have a guardian with watchful eyes,

You’re all these things, willingly beneath God’s skies,

There’s so many things it’s impossible to make a list,

After review the most important thing I have missed,

You loving me means more than written word can say,

The most important day in my life is your birth day,

Your day of birth is always a celebration of you,

Our Lord once revealed my future and what I’d do,

A small pretty angel was revealed in a dream to me,

The blessing revealed to me of loving you so happily.

I love you, Happy Birthday, by Pat for Patti

Text Poem: By His Hand Are You

Baby girl, my angel from Heaven’s land of paradise,

You are the beauty of God’s hand seen by my eyes,

Are you today planning to be nude in water near hot,

I’ll feast upon you beauty with eyes that haven’t forgot,

Memory of a vision or a miracle for one man to see,

Is the miracle of His hand through you, as you be,

Truly, upon viewing Paradise I will be stunned by it all,

Perhaps taken back by beauty my feet will stall,

I’m doubtful if so as I’ve studied beauty at your side,

Starting five years before you became my bride,

I pray God’s hand remains upon your gorgeous form,

For you my beautiful angel have become my norm.

The end,

By Pat for Patti, my angel.

God’s Gift of You

As thoughts find an avenue upon which to flow I seek rest,

My heart calls upon your heart to ask was I ever the best,

I’ve fought wars with men so young they cried mama to die,

Yet fear was never felt such as in wait for the last goodbye,

The cry of the banshee is what’s heard from a “dear John”,

More tragic than a bullets pierce is thoughts of moving on,

As tear drops fall and sobs escape the voice with anguish,

Men of strength will fall onto the floor in a state of languish,

I once followed the sad and weary path of he so described,

Stricken with fear more intense than war I began to imbibe,

The unknown creates tragedy more so than realities truth,

Time falls upon the unaware to age him beyond his youth,

For you I cried, for you I almost died, then events occurred,

Tortured, beaten, unable to stand my broken heart stirred,

You delivered a kiss upon flesh hanging from my torn lip,

No disgust came upon your face as he delivering the whip,

From above came a light far brighter than any I have seen,

To be saved and delivered by a kiss from my future queen,

Was a gift from heaven far greater than any gift in my life,

Given by God, to save my life, delivered by my future wife.

The end. For Patti by Pat
Thank you Patti for praying for me during that time in my life. I’ll love you forever.

Mixed Words Go Unspoken

I grow hungry, I grow tired, I’m so tired and weak,

Though the highway is long I will drive and seek,

I feel your love, I hear your call, deep inside of me,

My eyes adore you, when I dream you’re all I see,

When I see a love movie or dream dreams of love,

It’s you my heart desires, It’s you I’m thinking of,

To dream a dream of you ignite heart passions so,

“The End” may be the end unless it starts a show,

Rumbling sound penetrates my ears to be a howl,

Highway beat is beaten down to become a growl,

I grow stronger as the beat of your heart is heard,

The road silences all to be unheard as a soft word,

Words fall from my mouth to strike the pavement,

Each fallen word ignites the letters in arrangement,

Riddle me this my mind asked of my tongue tonight,

Love me forever my sweet I’d much rather than fight,

She inquired with a question mark on end. Ready?

Let us do so my angel I’ll love you forever, go steady?

This path taken? Or shan’t we walk blindly in arm?

So many unanswered queries are not of your charm,

Evening shadows of weeping willows bring a sigh,

Remembering wartime goodbye brings me to cry,

Only you, just you alone could do, all we had to do.

And that’s why, forever plus a day, I love only you.

Against Time’s Assault

Age has again crept upon my being with no words spoken,

I hope time grants me time for everything before I’m broken,

Whisper softly into my ear as in the time of our yesteryear,

Tender words softly spoken with love’s flow draws me near,

You’ve overwhelmed my heart to a time of long love nights,

Oh little girl time has broken my frame yet you’re in my sights,

My muscles flex slower than yesterday and every hair is gray,

Long ago you said you adore my gray hair if it will only stay,

I once came home from that war to recover while loving you,

So many times in a cell in a far away land I was so very blue,

To wear your photograph in the darkest place a warrior knows,

Is a testimonial of my love for you, I hope my love still shows,

This day of my birth I celebrate loving you for all these years,

Others love comes and goes but ours never sways with tears,

Hold me tight today I plead because on this day I feel a need,

My heart hungers today for only on your love my heat feeds,

You are an angel from heaven to behold for my aging eyes,

You’ve escaped the ravages of time that your beauty denies,

Round and firm is a bottom I’ve massaged while falling asleep,

With each moment in passing time my love grows more deep,

I pray we have time for everything against times assault,

The morning light radiates from your heart without halt,

Another year means more love to share with the other heart,

I pray for you my angel that somehow neither will depart.
